一向只相信西醫觀念的我，常年受肩膀緊繃酸痛的苦楚，找西醫一向是叱之以鼻，不理不睬，大不了開處方止痛劑草草打發。一次不經意的機緣，今天下午上門趙醫師診所，大師雙掌置於背部穴位，緩緩加重驟放，胸中鬱悶之氣驟然放空，反覆幾次後，全身舒暢無比，加上有力的指壓筋骨源處，早已遺忘肩膀放鬆的感覺，再一次觸動了我的心靈。
閒聊間他無心的提及他太太去年生病的例子，她太太被這裡的醫生診斷乳腺癌末期，兩個拳頭大小潰爛的腫瘤。動手術治癒的機會也不大，他們夫妻兩個一起翻研醫書，發現中國在兩千年前即有此病並被治好的例子，醫書上稱乳痈。他們風塵僕僕跑中國和台灣，諮商有經驗的同行，決定把死馬當活馬醫，療法是全素飲食嚴格避免一切單白質再配合中藥，三個月之後完全痊癒。
我不是建議中醫能治所有病症，我自己習西式醫療，研讀過類似的學術文章，臨床上西式療法也看不少，中醫我是沒接觸過，但是完全同意這種飲食治療的觀念，當然找對醫生是最重要的一環，中國傳承的皇帝內經神農本草經及百草綱目不是輕易傳下來兩千多年，我要向我的老同學致歉，以前他苦口婆心的建議，從沒被我採納，以後有機會一定會洗耳恭聽。
Chinese medicine
For some reason, I never believed in Chinese medicines. I had to admit it was my stubborn bias. However on an unplanned occasion, it made me change my mind.
You see, my shoulder had been tense and painful off and on for years, therefor I forgot how it felt without tension and pain. I tried massages, hot packs, ice packs, ,jacuzzi and so on, nothing worked. Doctors did not pay attention to this kind of little things, because people never die from it , it's not operable and there is no DRG for the insurance billing purposes. Of course if I insist, maybe then I will get a prescription for physical therapy or Vicodin.
I met Dr. C through a good friend of mine. She mentioned him to me many times before, although I never paid attention to it. This time I had to accompany someone to get therapy from him. I found out he came from China and trained by experienced doctors. Seeing how he treated this person, I decided to give it a try.
Facing down; I felt his palms on my back gradually adding pressures, then released with a thud. I felt a gush of congested stuffy air released out, and my whole back was relaxed almost instantly. He repeated it few more times, and also pressed some other pressure points on my shoulders. The effect was amazing; I felt the forgotten relaxation on my shoulders which made me emotional up to this moment.
Dr. C made a testimony which I was extremely impressed. His wife was diagnosed with breast cancer which I assume it was stage VI according to his descriptions. She had two abscesses which were fist sizes, worst of all infected. He studied old books which he found breast cancer existed 2000 years ago. It was recorded as carbuncle (乳痈）. They went to China and Taiwan. He consulted with friends that were expertise. He combined different ideas and came up with treatment regimens that were modified with diet and herbal treatments. The diet was no protein vegetarian diet. There is a old idiom that is "treat a dead horse as if a live horse". They had nothing to lose since western medicine had given up already. His wife was cured after 3 months treatment.
I am not saying that Chinese medicine can treat everything. But I do agree with the concept which made very much sense. The crucial factor is that finding a good doctor. I learned my lessons: Trust ancestors' 2000 years wisdom and take reliable advices. I want to apology to one of my old classmate who practices Chinese medicine. "Please accept my apology, DJ. "
