一個女生半夜醒來發現她老公不在身邊.
她穿了睡袍到樓下去找他.
結果看到他坐在廚房, 小桌子上還有一杯熱咖啡.
他望著墻壁好像在沉思.

她看見老公擦眼淚, 又喝了一口熱咖啡.
她一面走進廚房, 一面輕聲的的說“你怎么啦, 親愛的”.
“你爲什麽這么晚還在自己一個人樓下”?

她老公的目光從咖啡杯望上來說: “我只是想起了我們兩個20年前第一次見面時，開始約會。你只有16歲。你還記得嗎”？他很嚴肅的問道。

這個妻子感動到眼淚都要跑出來了，
她覺得這個老公實在是對她又溫柔又關懷。 “是的”，她回答。

老公頓了一下。他看起來好像是很難說的出口。
”你還記得我們在我子車後座被你爸爸逮到了”?

”是的，我記得” 妻子說，同時她自己拿了一張椅子坐在他身邊。

老公繼續說。 “你還記得你爸爸把他的散彈槍頂在我的臉上，並說， “要么你娶我的女兒，或者說我會把你送入監獄20年”?

女人溫柔的說: “我也記得的”。
老公用力抹了一把眼淚說道....
”今天我就應該是我出獄的日子了”。

A woman awakes during the night to find that her husband was not in their bed.
She puts on her robe and goes downstairs to look for him.
She finds him sitting at the kitchen table with a hot cup of coffee in front of him.
He appears to be in deep thought, just staring at the wall.

She watches as he wipes a tear from his eye and takes a sip of his coffee.
'What's the matter, dear?' she whispers as she steps into the room,
'Why are you down here at this time of night?'

The husband looks up from his coffee,
'I am just remembering when we first met 20 years ago and started
dating. You were only 16. Do you remember back then?' he asks solemnly.

The wife is almost reduced to tears herself,
just thinking how caring and sensitive her husband is. 'Yes, I do' she replies.

The husband pauses. The words were not coming easily.
'Do you remember when your dad caught us in the back seat of my car?'

'Yes, I remember,' said the wife, lowering herself into a chair beside him.

The husband continues. 'Do you remember when he shoved that shotgun in my face and said, 'Either you marry my daughter, or I will send you to jail for 20 years?' '
I remember that, too' she replies softly.
He wipes another tear from his cheek and says....
'I would have gotten out today.'
